  6. I work with Starbucks Youth Action Grants (and generally love everything about them and their staff).  And, at my most recent meeting they gave me treats (not that they needed to do anything to win me over..)! A french press, whole bean coffee, and coffee cups!
I love coffee and over the years have transitioned from those first sips in early-college, coated with sugar and doused with cream, to now either black or with a little skim milk.  But, I’ve never used a French Press…  Love
It’s actually a fun process.  It makes making coffee a special (and quick!) little process.  And, it’s easy to make just enough coffee for one.  Improvements necessary: learn the right bean to water ratio.  But, I think this could be my new daily dose method!

  8. Last weekend was mothers day, and I was lucky enough to spend it with my mother and grandmother…
Friday night I was in Newport, RI for work and spent the night with my Nan and Pop-Pop in the retirement/assisted living home they (literally) just moved into.  My mom redid their apartment to look just like a mini-version of their old house, it’s truly perfect for them.
After I got back from my event my Nan and I got in our jammies, poured a cocktail, and girl talked for hours.  I swear, she knows everything.  We talked jobs, God and faith (something we share), friends, the future, and boys (Don’t be too available, you’re a catch).  Nan is a great listener and I really do feel like so much of who I am is because of her presence in my life - I actually lived with her and Pop the year I took off between my 1st and 2nd year of college.  I see so much of myself in her (or her in myself?) - except the clean gene did not pass down (much to her dismay).
That night I made a bed on the floor in their room - I could have stayed at my aunts or in their house that is on the market.  But why?  It was such a special memory for me, at 24, to have a sleepover with my grandparents.  As we turned off the light, my Pop-Pop (who had just asked “How can you to girls gab that long??”) flicked on a flash light, made faces in the dark, and wanted the chatting to continue.  “Say your prayers”, came from my Nan’s side of the bed and lights were out.
The next morning I snuggled in bed between the two of them and caught Pop up on the girl talk from the night prior — my Nan squeezed me, “You’re my bestest bestest friend”.  I adore her just as much.
Some think my family is freakishly close, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  9. I’m super confused by this “film series” directed by (the) Karl Lagerfeld and featuring Rachel Bilson (does she actually eat ice cream?).  (Disclaimer: I only watched the ballet one, but it was weird.)

I guess it’s supposed to create a buzz about these ice cream bars… it’s working I guess.  My brain is buzzing about what makes these things different from a Dove Bar.

  10. “Friday” on Glee… really?

I mean, it’s better than the original at least.
